MONTESSORI

What is Montessori?

Montessori is a child-focused approach that an Italian Physician and Educator, Dr. Maria Montessori, developed for educating children. This method has been transformational in schools around the globe and here in Denver, CO.

The Montessori method fosters rigorous, self-motivated growth in all areas of development – cognitive, social, emotional, and physical. Children are given the freedom and support to explore, investigate, and make connections.

Montessori education is student-led and self-paced but guided, observed, and enriched by knowledgeable and caring teachers, the modeling of their peers, and a nurturing well-prepared environment.

Why Family Star Montessori?

Family Star’s Montessori education supports the individual needs of each child and empowers them to achieve their human potential. You will witness children working independently or in small groups, exploring specially designed learning materials, deeply engaged in their work, and being respectful of each other and their surroundings.

Students grow up to be more confident, enthusiastic, and self-directed learners and citizens, accountable to both themselves and their community. They think critically, work collaboratively, and act boldly and with integrity. What better outcome could you wish for your children?

Montessori Impact

To discover the child in inclusive Montessori environments and inspire a movement for educating children and caregivers, while breaking systemic barriers to allow children and caregivers to reach their fullest potential.

  • Teachers focus on the development of the child's cognitive, physical, creative, and social-emotional capacities, instead of "teaching to a test"

  • Offers opportunities to learn real-world skills and to be independent thinkers with strong self-confidence.

  • Allows children to learn at their own pace, and the classroom instruction is structured in such a way that students are able to complete tasks before moving on, giving them a sense of accomplishment.
