April is Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month!
Family Star Montessori is proud to celebrate Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month. Partnering with Denver Human Services through a generous mini-grant, we will be hosting a variety of events to spread awareness about the prevention of child abuse and neglect. You may have noticed the blue pinwheels surrounding both of our centers or our staff wearing pinwheel pins. According to preventchildabuse.org, the blue pinwheel is "the national symbol for the great childhoods all children deserve because our children are our future."
At Family Star, we truly believe that all children deserve a great childhood and we invite you to join us in spreading this message. We have many exciting events planned for the month of April:
- Thursday, April 14 is Wear BLUE Day! Join us in wearing blue to spread awareness of child abuse and neglect prevention.
- Thursday, April 14 is also Family Night at our Northeast Center. Come celebrate the power of positive family interactions with an interactive presentation by Museo de las Americas.
- Thursday, April 21 is Family Night at our Northwest Center and we are honored to host our keynote speaker for Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month: Dr. Sarah Enos Watamura, PhD, presenting on toxic stress.
- Our blue ribbon trees are in the reception areas of both centers as a daily reminder of the power of positive family interactions. Check in each week & share your family story!
We look forward to celebrating this important month with you!
