Curtis Park Artist Rendering

Family Star, for more than two decades, has fulfilled our vision to discover the child in inclusive Montessori environments and to inspire a movement for educating the human potential.   From infants to preschoolers, over 70 percent of our families served are living in poverty; Ten to fifteen percent of our students have an identified disability or special need; One hundred percent are getting access to a high quality early childhood education supported by dental, vision and hearing screenings, social work and parent education programs, and an authentic Montessori program with a certified teacher in every classroom.

No matter your passion, our infants, toddlers and preschoolers will benefit form your support of our historic adventure launched in partnership with the Urban Land Conservancy.

In 2011, Urban Land Conservancy purchased the property at 2940 Curtis Street in Curtis Park (including covering the cost of basic renovation that brings the facility to tenant-ready state).  Family Star now embarks on an historic, $2,000,000, two part campaign that will provide funds for the renovation, purchase and operations of this 13,000 square foot early childhood education center.  It is a move just 7 blocks west that will save thousands of dollars in licensing fees, deferred maintenance and rent.  Most of all, it will provide much needed outdoor play area, gymnasium, nap rooms, nutrition stations, gross motor space, group meeting areas and many more enhancements to ensure early childhood education not constrained by barriers of inoperable or inefficient facilities.
